AGV helmets
AGV Helmets Spa also known as Amisano Gino Valenza Helmets are a helmet company that is based in Italy. AGV was founded y Gino Amisano in 1946 but was a firm that made leather seats and bicycle saddles. In 1947 AGV started producing motorcycle helmets. In 2007 AGV merged with Dainese making them the biggest legends in motorcycle protective gear.
AGV helmets are more notably associated with the motorcycle World Champions Valentino Rossi and Glacomo Agostini. They have both used the AGV brand throughout their careers. In 2008, Valentino was made the honorary president of the AGV group. The AGV helmets has also been used and worn by past Formula 1 World Champions, they include Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi and Nelson Piquet.
The 70s the AGV helmets group brought in the AGV Cup, they used this as a three race endurance Championship which was held in Daytona, USA. AGV then signed a worldwide agreement with AGV Sports Group which is a US corporation to design and develop a range of AVG’s own brand motorcycle apparel.

The cooperation of these big names have brought many professional victories to AGV and over 130 World Championship Titles. In addition to the titles the definitive establishment of the AGV brand has been noticed on a global scale.

History of AGV Legendary Helmets
- 1946 AGV helmets (Amisano Gino Valenza) started out as manufacturer of leather seats and bicycle saddles.
- 1947 They enter into the motorcycle helmet world; an important step which gained unprecedented commercial success together with the chance of being part of sport competition.
- 1949 The first open-faced helmets with a leather shell was developed and then produced.
- 1953 The first fibreglass vulcanized helmets was introduced into the market.
- 1954 AGV helmets produces the first 100% fibreglass open-face helmets. Few years later taking advantage of the experience acquired in creating a special helmets to run the flying start kilometre on skis, AGV helmets develops the first fibreglass full-face helmets.
- 1977 AGV helmets, had always been investing to reach the highest safety standards, decides to commit itself to the Clinica Mobile project by sustaining all costs for the first structure, a facility to provide emergency care to the riders that have suffered injuries during races. This partnership is still running today.
- 1985 Nelson Piquet takes part into the Formula 1 World Championship wearing a brand new Kevlar/Dupont fibreglass full-face AGV helmets.
- Since the beginning AGVs history has been directly linked to the one of riders who have made the motorcycle history: Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene, , Franco Uncini, Fausto Gresini, Niki Lauda to name just a few. These co-operations have brought many victories to AGV helmets and over 130 World Championship Titles, in addition to the definitive establishment of the AGV brand name on a global scale.
- 1988 AGV helmets completes its range of products with the acquisition of MDS, a brand that in the very short time emerged by virtue of its versatility and gained important World Titles in the off-road championships with talented riders such as Pekka Vehkonen and Dave Thorpe.
- 1995 Valentino Rossi starts its outstanding career wearing an AGV helmets. Together with AGV helmets Valentino will attain his 9 World Championships Titles.
- 2002 AGV becomes part of an important Belgian Multi-national Group which already owned the LAZER brand. The IMAG Group together with AGV, MDS, and LAZER is now the 4th worldwide producer within the sport helmets market.
- 2007 AGV merges with Dainese thus merging two of the biggest legends in motorcycle protective gear.
